Farfalle

“butterflies” in Italian
Sauce Pairing: Chunky vegetable sauces and meat sauces
About Farfalle
The unmistakable bow-tie farfalle pasta actually means “butterflies,” which seems equally as obvious when you examine it. Its fun shape is ideal for chunky vegetable sauces and meat sauces. Farfalle emerged during medieval times in Firenze, Toscana, and has easily adapted in pasta fredda preparations (cold pasta), working wonders in picnic salads. An interesting traditional Italian dish for farfalle matches it with tuna, tomatoes, zucchini and peppers, along with fresh herbs.
